Proac Response D40R Floorstanding speaker (has arrived!)

The Response D38 has successfully been in production for nearly 8 years, but with new cone technology now available to ProAc, the decision was made to upgrade this model and hence the new Response D40R was born.

We now produce our own drive unit cones and, in particular, the carbon fibre cones utilised in the bass drivers of our Carbon Pro series of ultimate loudspeakers. These drivers produce the incredibly tuneful and powerful bass qualities associated with the CP6 and CP8 and the special carbon fibre technology has been further developed in order to produce a cone that will effectively cover both the bass and also the midrange frequencies of the D40.

The new D40R now utilises two 6.5” carbon fibre full range units achieving a powerful and extended bass response. The new equalised vent was designed, using two billet aluminium rods between the cabinet and plinth which together with the drive unit frames are shaped and coated in a non-resonant material.

Calyx DAC

The Calyx DAC 24/192 is a leading edge product using the very latest digital conversion technology, in a simple aluminium enclosure that is so easy to use, and even easier to enjoy!

Electrocompaniet Prelude PSF-1 Floorstanding Speaker

-The Electrocompaniet PSF 1 loudspeaker is a 2 and 1/2 way floor standing bass reflex construction, with double 6,5 inch woofers and a 1 inch tweeter.

The cabinet is made of MDF with double sandwich side panels and four internal strutting's to ensure minimum resonances. Total thickness of the side panels is 24 mm. Front and rear panels are made of 18 mm MDF. The woofers have a solid magnet structure with a long throw design to ensure well-controlled and tight bass reproduction even at relatively high SPL. Speaker cones are made of selected coated paper in order to give maximum musicality and a smooth frequency response.

As tweeter we use a 25 mm silk dome with ventilated magnet system and damped rear chamber to ensure minimum compression and good musical properties, not often used in loudspeakers at this price level. The Bryston BDP-1 High-Resolution Digital Music Player was designed to give audiophiles easy access to music files from USB storage devices. Bryston BCD1 CD Player

The Bryston BCD-1 is a State-of-the-Art Redbook CD player using fully discrete analog Class-A proprietary Bryston circuits, a quality Drive, and a 192K/24Bit Crystal DAC.

The DAC integrated circuit (chip) provides the conversion of the digital signal to the analog domain. The chip used in the BCD-1 CD Player is a Crystal CS4398. The CS4398 is a hybrid multi-bit delta-sigma DAC. This is a rather tongue-twisting description that refers to an advanced generation chip using a combination of several different methods to optimize the conversion process. The Bryston BP-6 C-Series preamplifier is a simplified state of the art preamplifier offering 4 high level stereo inputs. It provides an exact duplication of the original recording experience, without distortion or coloration.

Bryston proprietary Class A Discrete Operational Amplifiers are used throughout. All signal circuitry is fully discrete to avoid the compromises, phase shift and nonlinearities inherent in IC’s.

Controls are practical and convenient: source switching, tape monitoring, mute, balance and volume. The BP-6 features four high level inputs. The KWA 150 provides the strengths of both tube and solid state products: 3-D sound-staging, holographic imaging, and a beautiful midrange of tubes, combined with sparkling highs, low distortion, bass resolution, and control of solid state.

The heart of the KWA 150 Amplifier is a single voltage gain stage called the "Solid State Music Stage." The circuit was developed by Alan Kimmel, creator of the exceptional vacuum tube "Mu" stage.

Features include: high-low bias switch, stereo/bridge-mono switch and true balanced floating inputs, accepting balanced and unbalanced inputs. The design incorporates a regulated power supply for the input stage, Cardas' best connectors and oversized heat sinks. The first 50 watts operate in pure Class A.

The KWA 150 uses no global feedback, is direct-coupled, fully differential, dual-mono, bridgeable, and designed and built in the USA.
